Water UV-shielding in the Terrestrial Planet-forming Zone: Implications for Carbon Dioxide Emission

چکیده
Carbon Dioxide is an important tracer of the chemistry and physics in terrestrial planet forming zone. Using a thermo-chemical model that has been tested against mid-infrared water emission we re-interpret CO2 as observed with Spitzer. We find both UV-shielding extra chemical heating significantly reduce total column emitting layer. Water more efficient effect, reducing by $\sim$ 2 orders magnitude. These lower abundances lead to CO2-to-H2O flux ratios are closer values, but still too bright, especially relative terms. Invoking depletion elemental oxygen outside mid-plane iceline strongly impacts than it does H2O emission, bringing line values. conclude Spitzer-IRS coming from thin layer photo-sphere disk, similar strong lines. Below this layer, expect not be present except when replenished physical process. This would visible $^{13}$CO2 spectrum well certain $^{12}$CO2 features can JWST-MIRI.

Detection of Water Vapor in the Terrestrial Planet Forming Region of a Transition Disk
We report a detection of water vapor in the protoplanetary disk around DoAr 44 with the Texas Echelon Cross Echelle Spectrograph — a visitor instrument on the Gemini north telescope. The DoAr 44 disk consists of an optically thick inner ring and outer disk, separated by a dust-cleared 36 AU gap, and has therefore been termed “pre-transitional”. To date, this is the only disk with a large inner ...
متن کاملWater in star- and planet-forming regions.
In this paper, we discuss the astronomical search for water vapour in order to understand the disposition of water in all its phases throughout the processes of star and planet formation. Our ability to detect and study water vapour has recently received a tremendous boost with the successful launch and operation of the Herschel Space Observatory. Herschel spectroscopic detections of numerous t...
متن کاملCarbon Dioxide Emission Scenarios for the Usa
A model of carbon dioxide emissions of the USA is presented. The model consists of population, income per capita, economic structure, final and primary energy intensity per sector, primary fuel mix, and emission coefficients. The model is simple enough to be calibrated to observations since 1850. The model is used to project emissions until 2100. Best guess carbon dioxide emissions are in the m...
متن کاملCarbon Dioxide Emission Standards
On June 25, 2013, President Obama announced his plan to introduce carbon dioxide emission standards for electricity generation. This paper proposes an efficiency analysis approach that addresses which emission rates (and standards) would be feasible if the existing generating units adopt best practices. A new efficiency measure is introduced and further decomposed to identify different sources’...
متن کاملCarbon-dioxide sensing structures in terrestrial arthropods.
Sensory structures that detect atmospheric carbon dioxide have been identified and described to the subcellular level in adults of Lepidoptera, Diptera, Hymenoptera, Isoptera, Chilopoda, and Ixodidae, as well as in lepidopteran larvae. The structures are usually composed of clusters of wall-pore type sensilla that may form distinct sensory organs, often recessed in pits or capsules. In insects,...
